Director Of Communication And Public Relations (PR032/03-04)

Established in 1956, Hong Kong Baptist University has gone through several stages of development to become what it is today: a medium size University of Arts and Science providing a broad-based but rigorous education to a student body of around 5,200 through a range of programmes (up to Ph.D. level) offered under six Faculties/Schools: Arts, Business, Chinese Medicine, Communication, Science and Social Sciences. In addition, the University operates a self-funded School of Continuing Eudcation which provides life-long educational opportunities for a large group of full-time and part-time students.

With rapid changes occurring in the higher education sector of Hong Kong in recent years, the University sees the need to foster stronger ties between the University and the community and to enhance the University is corporate image through effective public relations strategies.

The University is now looking for a dynamic and experienced professional to head its newly restuctured Office of Communication and Public Relations. Reporting directly to the Vice-President(Development) and working closely with the senior management team, the Director will play a major role in mapping out a comprehensive strategy in cultivating and promoting the Universtiy is corporate image. Specifically, the Director is expected to plan, develop and execute strategic communication programmes to enhance public knowledge and support of the University and to coordinate communications and public relations efforts across the various units of the University. Moreover, he/she will also be responsible for developing effective communication internally and externally with the University's various stakeholders and the media.

The appointee should have, in addition to a good honours degree and/or relevant professional qualifications, a proven track record of achievement in public relations and corporate communications. He/She should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills and excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Fluency in Putonghua would be highly desirable.

Appointment Terms:
Initial appointment will normally be made on a three-year contract. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. The salary offered wil be commensurate with the qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include retirement/gratuity beenfits of 15% of basic salary, annual leave, housing assistance, and medical and dental scheme.
