RESEARCH MANAGER
(Salary: HK$28,075 per month)
Entry requirements : Candidates should (a) have a Hong Kong first or second class honours degree with Statistics as one of the subjects taken, in Economics or Mathematics or in Social Science or a related field, or a Hong Kong first or second class honours degree with Statistics taken in a post-graduate course organized by an acceptable institute, or equivalent; or (b) be Graduate Statisticians of a recognised institution or equivalent; and (c) passes in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent. (Note : (1) Candidates should attach copies of their degree diplomas/certificates and complete official transcripts of studies to their application forms, otherwise their applications may not be considered. (2) Holders of degrees conferred by a recognised institution other than a Hong Kong institution may also apply but should attach copies of their official transcripts and degree diplomas to their applications. (3) Candidate will be required to sit for a written examination. Those who are invited to sit for the written examination will receive an invitation on/before 30.1.2002.)
Duties : Take charge of a section of the department; plan, organise and conduct census and surveys; design, implement and upkeep statistical systems; analyse, interpret and present statistical data, including report writing; undertake statistical research under the guidance of a Senior Statistician; and supervise and provide professional guidance and training to statistical staff.
Terms of Appointment : Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.
Fringe Benefits : 12 days of paid annual leave will be granted to the successful candidates. A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485), will equal to 10% of the total basic salary received during the contract period.
