The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited ("HKMC"), a wholly-owned Hong Kong SAR Government Corporation through the Exchange Fund, is a pioneering financial institution and a leading HK$ debt issuer specialising in retail bonds/ debt securities issuance, mortgage insurance and secondary mortgage business in Hong Kong. Our objective is to promote a strong secondary mortgage market and vibrant capital market in Hong Kong. We are inviting qualified and high calibre individuals to fill the position of Counsel.
Requirements
To meet the challenge, the successful candidate should possess the follwoing qualifications and attributes:
- a qualified solicitor or barrister with over 5 years' post-qualification experience gained in corporate finance transactions including capital/ debt market, listing, regulatory compliance, banking and/or commercail areas in an international law firm or as in-house counsel
- good academic record with excellent analytical, negotiation, coordination, communication and technical legal skills
- knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as well as good drafting skills; a high standard of written and spoken English is a prerequisite (Chinese is useful but not essentila)
- an innovative team player possessing the drive, enthusiasm and hte ability to work independently under pressure and within tight time frames.
Responsibilites
Reporting directly to the General Counsel fo the HKMC - the successful candidate will assist the General Counsel to provide proactive legal adviece and to support management and staff in the following areas:
- issuance of bonds
- listing and trading of debt securities on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong
- structuring and issuance of mortgage-backed securities
- mortgage insurance programme
- other businesses of the HKMC (including purchase of residential morgage loan porfolios from banks, developers and government bodies)
- reviewing and drafting documentation relating to the above; and
- coordinating with colleagues within the HKMC, regulators and external counsel etc. in connection with the above.
