AMENITIES ASSISTANT III

Entry Requirements
Candidates should have:
(1) five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus A) at Grade E or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent; and
(2) two years' working experience after obtaining the academic qualification stipulated in (1) above.

Duties
An Amenities Assistant III is mainly deployed on the following duties-
(1) plant production, botanical, zoological, aviary maintenance and landscape construction;
(2) maintenance of indoor games halls, parks, playgrounds, roadside amenity areas, stadia, sports ground, beaches and swimming pools;
(3) life-saving and first-aid services;
(4) assisting in recreation and sports programme; and
(5) supervising minor staff in provision of recreational and amenities services.
[Notes: Successful candidates should note the following-
(i) they will be required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks), to work irregular hours and shifts (including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors);
(ii) they will be required to live in departmental quarters;
(iii) they will be required to drive motor scooters/cycles/cars on duty;
(iv) they will be required to wear uniform; and
(v) they will be subject to posting and transfer, and required to work in the New Territories or remote areas (including outlying islands).

Terms of Appointment
A new appointee will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Subject to his/her satisfactory completion of the probationary period and fully meeting the requirements of the grade and service need, he/ she may be appointed on civil service agreement terms for three years.

General Notes
(1) Civil service vacancies are posts on the civil service permanent establishment. Candidates appointed are on civil service terms of appointment and conditions of service and are civil servants.
(2) The terms of appointment and conditions of service to be offered are subject to the provisions prevailing at the time the offer of appointment is made.
(3) New recruits to the civil service must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region unless specified otherwise.
(4) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations Authority may also apply but should attach copies of their official transcripts and certificates to their applications.
(5) Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical and dental benefits, and where appropriate, assistance in housing.
