SENIOR SCIENTIFIC OFFICER (ACCREDITATION)

Entry Pay : $80,300 per month
Entry requirements : (a) a 1st or 2nd class honours degree in natural science, medical science or engineering discipline from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; (b) Grade E or above in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination; and (c) eight years' post-qualification experience in the relevant field (preferably with medical testing experience), with a minimum of 4 years' experience in quality assurance or related activities including at least 2 years' experience in quality auditing. (Note : Candidates should provide details of their relevant experience when forwarding their applications. Suitable candidates without an acceptable qualification in Chinese Language may also apply. Such candidates will be required to pass an appropriate language proficiency test conducted by the Civil Service Examinations Unit before they can be offered appointment.)

Duties :
Duties : A Senior Scientific Officer (Accreditation) is mainly deployed on matters relating to : (i) laboratory accreditation under the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS) or (ii) accreditation of certification bodies managed by the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS). Main duties include: (a) providing technical and administrative assistance in the implementation of HOKLAS or accreditation of certification bodies under HKAS for medical, environmental and chemical testing and related disciplines; (b) assisting in formulation of policy on laboratory accreditation or accreditation of certification bodies; and (c) co-ordinating or performing on-site laboratory accreditation or assessment of certification bodies.

Terms of Appointment : New recruits will be appointed on 3 years' civil service agreement terms.
