ASSISTANT CURATOR II (CONSERVATION)

Job Desc:
Entry Pay: HK$16,095 per month)
Entry Requirements: (a) a Hong Kong degree or equivalent, for which at least 33% of the credit units should be in one of the following subjects: Conservation Science, Applied Chemistry or Chemistry; and (b) Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent.

Notes :
(1) Suitable candidates without an acceptable qualification in Chinese language may also apply. Such candidates will be required to pass an appropriate language proficiency test conducted by the Civil Service Examinations Unit before they can be offered appointment.
(2) Candidates should attach copies of their official transcripts of studies together with their applications for assessment of relevant credit units obtained.
(3) Applications which are incomplete or not duly signed will not be considered.

Duties: To assist in the preservation, restoration and conservation of artifacts for display purposes which may not be in museums; and to monitor museum climatology.

Note: Officers may be required to undergo training relevant to the duties of the grade and work irregular hours.Terms of Appointment: A new appointee will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Subject to his/her satisfactory completion of the probationary period and fully meeting the requirements of the grade, he/she may be appointed on civil service agreement terms for three years.

Application should be made in application form G.F. 340 (Rev. 11/2001) which is obtainable from any Public Enquiry Service Centre of District Office, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centre of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's Internet web site (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed application forms should reach the above address not later than 16 May 2002 with the envelope clearly marked with "For application of Assistant Curator II (Art) or Assistant Curator II (Conservation)". Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for applications.
