LEGAL RESEARCH OFFICER

(Salary : HK$32,500 per month)
Entry Requirements : (a) Be admitted as a solicitor in a recognized jurisdiction as stipulated under the Legal Officers Ordinance and Schedule 1 to Legal Practitioners Ordinance ; (b) Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE, or equivalent ; (c) two years' relevant local experience; and (d) be permitted to work in Hong Kong.

Duties : To be deployed in the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Integrated Data (VALID) Project Team of Transport Department undertaking the following duties : (1)researching into the Road Traffic Ordinance, its subsidiary legislations and other related legislations ; (2) providing support on the legal preparatory work for the project ; and (3) identifying necessary legislative amendments required to support implementation of business process re-engineering of licensing services and other initiatives to be explored by the VALID Project Team.

Terms of Appointment : Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.

Fringe Benefits : Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service. Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Government to an MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. The eligibility of the employee for rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.

Completed forms should be sent to the following address before the closing date for application. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation within four to six weeks from the closing date for application.
