CONTRACT ASSISTANT INSPECTOR

CONTRACT ASSISTANT INSPECTOR (MECHANICAL)

(Salary: $16,500)
Entry Requirements: Candidates should (a) have a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Mechanical or Marine Engineering from Hong Kong polytechnic / polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education / technical institute / college or equivalent; and (b) have had two years' relevant practical training and not less than three years' relevant post-qualification experience; or have completed an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical or Marine Engineering plus at least three years' relevant post-qualification experience; and (c) have Grade E or above in English Language (Syl. B) and Chinese Language in HKCEE, or equivalent.

Notes: Successful candidate may be required: a) to work irregular hours / in remote areas / in harsh condition; b) to perform shift duty / stand-by duty / on call-duty / emergency duty; c) to wear uniform / protective clothing; d) to carry pager / mobile phone; e) to work with computer; and f) to perform self-drive duty; g) to perform any other duties as specified from time to time.

Duties: Assisting in the supervision and control of staff engaged in the inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and equipment on government vessels.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on two-year non-civil service contract terms.
Fringe Benefits: Rest days, public holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity equivalent to 10% of the total basic salary drawn may be granted, which includes any contribution of the government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect to the appointee required by the MPF Scheme Ordinance, if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct.
